BOOKS READ IN AUGUST 2016
* Spider-Woman: Shifting Gears Vol. 1: Baby Talk by Dennis Hopeless & Javier Rodriguez
* Blood Red Road by Moira Young
* My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
I don’t think I’ve ever had such a bad reading month before this. Sure, I was away, and then I was busy catching up with work ever since I got back, but usually I would still manage to read more than I did. (And it isn’t because My Lady Jane wasn’t exciting, because it was) The only thing I can say is… Pokemon Go. Seriously. Of course, I was already in a sort-of burned out mood before, but I was still reading in bits and pieces, and then the first morning I woke up in Tokyo I found out that Pokemon Go was available in Malaysia (and so I could download it, and play it in Japan)… and I ended up not reading any of the books that I had brought with me. And I’ve been spending my bus/train rides playing instead of reading, too…
Anyway. My weekends were not spent playing Pokemon Go (at least for the most part), but working on my zines. I’m starting a new zine which will be all about YA & Children’s books, that I’m hoping would be done in time for KL Zine Fest this October. And I’m working on two other zines besides.
In conclusion: not much reading for me in August. I did read short stories and single issue comics, but of course, I’m not counting them here.
Edit: added Moira Young’s Blood Red Road which I did read before starting on My Lady Jane, but forgot to add to GoodReads. Only remembered it when I checked my IG.
