Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. It’s been awhile since I did one! This week we’re doing the top ten books we’re looking forward to from (the first half of) 2018. I’m focusing on middle grade and YA in my list:
Chaotic Good by Whitney Gardner
release date: March 13th
It’s a girl-dresses-as-boy story. And more than that – it’s a girl-dresses-as-boy-to-shop-for-comics-without-drama-from-dudebro-types story. I am so looking forward to it.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
release date: January 2nd
Ever since I read Tithe, Holly Black has been an insta-buy author for me. This is another of her fairy stories, which are all among my favourite YA fairy stories. I had absolutely loved The Darkest Part of the Forest, and I CAN NOT WAIT for this book to be out.
Down and Across by Arvin Ahmadi
release date: February 6th
The cover. The synopsis. The fact that it’s blurbed by Khaled Hosseini and Adam Silvera.
The Language of Spells by Garret Weyr & Katie Harnett
release date: June 26th
The cover is too gorgeous. The author wrote My Heartbeat, which is one of my favourite middle-grade titles ever. And this book is about the friendship between a girl and a dragon. YES.
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
release date: April 24th
I loved Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, and I loved The Upside of Unrequited. I’m guessing I’m going to love this, too. (I’m also really looking forward to the Albertalli/Silvera collaboration!)
My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton
release date: June 26th
If it’s anything like My Lady Jane, I know I will love it. Especially since this one is about Jane Eyre.
Ship It by Britta Lundin
release date: May 1st
I love stories about fangirls. I especially love stories about queer fangirls.
The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik by David Arnold
release date: May 22nd
It’s David Arnold. Enough said.
Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman
release date: February 27th
Confession: I have not finished Seraphina, which this book is a spin-off of. Not because I didn’t like it (I loved it so far) but because I hadn’t had the time or excuse to pick it back up yet. But Tess of the Road is definitely a good excuse to do so, and like Seraphina, seems to include many fantasy tropes I love.
Wizardmatch by Lauren Magaziner
release date: March 6th
The cover. The “Eva Ibbotson’s Which Witch meets The Incredibles” thing.
Hmm. I didn’t really think about it until now, but there are a lot of blue covers among the books I’m looking forward to.
Bonus: 2018 Titles I’ve Read And Loved (and can’t wait to be out, so I can get others to read them!)
The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang
Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire
Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed
Also: Awesome Sequels Coming out in 2018, the first books of which I totally intended to read in 2017 but haven’t yet got around to
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious by Shannon Hale & Dean Hale
Lumberjanes: The Moon Is Up by Mariko Tamaki & Brooklyn Allen
Which books are you looking forward to the most?
I’m not familiar with some of these but they look amazing! Definitely interested in Down and Across now

I’m so excited for Tess of the Road – love dragons. I haven’t read Seraphina, but I’ll probably do it when this the companion novel comes out.
Happy readings! 😉
