BOOKS & COMICS READ IN APRIL 2018
- The Reluctant Dragon by Kenneth Grahame
- Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

- Doctor Strange Vol.5: Secret Empire by Dennis Hopeless & Niko Henrichon
An all-time low? Besides still being on a book slump, I spent a week in London without reading much, and that’s about 10 days including travel time. I brought books with me (and bought books while there), but I ended up minding my niece and watching movies more than anything else.
I did finish reading The Gauntlet in early May, and am now reading Kendare Blake’s Three Dark Crowns, so I am sloooowly starting to read physical books again.

I need a book to pull me out of it!! I just have this bad habit of picking up books, reading half of it, and never finishing them. :O

For me, it’s more of a state-of-mind thing. Right now I’m able to listen to audiobooks and read comics (especially if digital) which is how I’m continuing my reads, but when it comes to physical books I keep putting them down, somehow.

What did you think of Truly Devious? For whatever reason I’ve ended up reading a few YA books recently about teenagers at smart school/camp and I’ve loved them all (I hope this is going to be a publishing trend). I think this is the first Maureen Johnson book that I’ve really enjoyed.
Have you read any of Lily Anderson’s books (Not Now, Not Ever and The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You)? I found them delightfully geeky.

I enjoyed it! I’m not a big fan of detective fiction (although I love watching detective/cop shows somehow?) but what pulled me into the story was the group of smart teens sort of trapped in the school together. I haven’t read The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You, but I did read Not Now, Not Ever and not only did I love it, I was extremely envious because I wanted to go to that school and read all their library’s SF novels.

I know right, a scifi library would be my dream!
The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You is set at a school for super smart kids and loosely follows the plot of Much Ado About Nothing so is pretty much a delight. I generally have little patience for romance in YA fiction (and especially plots that involve the love interest being a jerk to the protagonist) but I thought the banter was pretty cute in this one.
